Wednesday Jun 22, 2022
We have found an EXCELLENT connection for any small business owning needing to staying HIPAA compliant in an affordable, simple way where there are personalized experts minutes away to talk with about unique situations arising or wondering about. Jake Fisher with Accountable HQ has been a great business referral resource that Amanda Wylie has connected me with.
We spent today's talk going over common questions about which business software can be used and what can be placed in them if not HIPAA compliant platforms. Particularly Amanda and I get frequent questions about QuickBooks and what can and can't be done in it. Jake sets everything straight and encourage every midwife and birth worker to connect with him for a 30min zoom call to learn more about their products and what the HIPAA compliance standards on now (changed DRASTICALLY after 2013).

I had my favorite group of midwives that are "semi-retired" making big changes in their areas of the country and expertise wheelhouses! Cathy Gordan is running for office again and advocating strong for Kansas midwifery autonomy right. Carolyn Gegor is expanding access to midwifery ultrasound education in person and online to bridge the barrier to midwifery ultrasound certification opportunities. Hilary Schlinger is helping midwifery schools and access to midwifery services on state levels all over the country with her extensive educational advocacy background. She is helping a midwife program start in Florida, consulting for multiple state agencies to increase midwifery education and funding for midwifery services through grants and research work. Each of these ladies I simply admire their passions, tenacity, and determination to be continually improving access to midwifery well into retirement years!

Supporting Midwives and Client through Birth Trauma and Burnout - Jenny West, CPM
Thursday May 05, 2022
Thursday May 05, 2022
Jenny West, CPM and I spoke about the deep topic how can we support midwives and our clients through tough birth experiences. There is so much abuse and trauma occurring around the birth profession. We love to help midwives get through the trauma, so it doesn't get held onto for years and stop being a barrier to caring for families at our full potential as a midwife!

Making Midwifery Change on a Global Scale with Augustine Colebrook
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
Wednesday Apr 13, 2022
Augustine Colebrook, Midwife & Owner of Midwifery Wisdom Collectives, spoke with me today about our amazing consultation services and the vital need for midwives to do a paradigm shift about collaboration and opportunities available to us. We are in a critical place in midwifery history with massive demands and burnout all over the US and world. Families are wanting midwives more than ever and many practices aren't equipped on the business side to handle that influx of demand. This was a great discussion about midwifery history, barriers we see and what to do about them, and resources available to help midwives be long term sustainable.
